E72 on Wolf CSO convection steam ovens, including the CSO24 and CSO30 series, relates to draining and water level checks. The official causes are a drain pump removing too little water, water conductivity that is too low, foam in the boiler housing from an unsuitable descaling agent, an open circuit in the water tank drive motor, and a top heat actuator that is defective or not connected. The display shows E72 and steam cooking stops.
1. Check what water is in the tank. Distilled or heavily softened water can read as too low in conductivity, so use regular fresh tap water. 2. If you used a non-recommended descaler, rinse the system well. 3. Power the oven off for a minute. 4. Try steam again. 5. If E72 stays, call us.
Yes. If conductivity is too low, such as with distilled water, the oven cannot sense the water level correctly. Fresh tap water is the first thing to try.
An unsuitable descaling agent can foam in the boiler housing. Foam confuses the level reading, so use the recommended product and rinse thoroughly afterward. Starting point for us is usually drain pump pumping off too little water, with the price written down before any work.
If tap water and a rinse do not clear it, the drain pump, tank motor or top heat actuator may be involved. We check on site and quote in writing first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
