What E05 means

On Wolf IR30450 and IR36550 induction ranges from 2018 on, such as the IR30450/S/T and IR36550/S/P, code E05 on the cooktop means a LIN communication error. There is no response from the generator, which is the power module that drives the induction coils. It is a system error, shown across all three zones, so the display shows E05 on every zone and the cooktop may not heat.

Common causes of E05

  • Data connection to the generator that is loose or damaged
  • Generator that is not responding
  • Control that cannot communicate on the LIN link
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn off all zones and remove pans. 2. Give the range a one-minute power reset at the breaker. 3. Wait for the cooktop to start and check whether E05 returns. 4. If it does, stop using the cooktop and call us. 5. Note what the display showed and when it began, then give us a call.

! Why to stop there
  • A generator or link problem needs testing with the range open, which is not safe for owners.
  • Replacing a generator without testing can be a costly guess.
  • Written price first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E05E05 questions
Why does E05 show on all three zones?

It is a system error. The control lost contact with the generator, so every zone is affected, not one coil. We would rather test than guess, and we tell you the result of each check.

What is the generator?

It is the module that powers the induction coils. If the control cannot talk to it, nothing heats. We note your model and the exact display, and we tell you the result of each check.

Will a breaker reset fix E05?

It may clear a one-time glitch. If E05 returns, we test the link and the generator, then quote in writing first. You see the written price first, and you only pay for what is needed.
