A Wolf legacy dual fuel range, for example the DF366 or DF606CG, shows ERR 04 when the control detects a shorted circuit on the RTD temperature sensor. This is the opposite of an open circuit: the control reads the sensor as shorted, so it cannot trust any oven temperature. Expect the code on the display and unreliable or stopped heating.
1. Turn the oven OFF and let it cool. 2. Look inside only after it is cool, and do not touch or bend the sensor. 3. Let the range sit without power for a minute at the breaker, then switch it on. 4. Try a short bake. 5. If ERR 04 appears again, call us instead of retrying.
Both involve the RTD sensor. ERR 03 means an open circuit, while ERR 04 means a shorted one. The sensor is the common point, but the cause behind it may differ.
Please do not. It sits inside a hot oven, and handling or bending it can make a reading problem worse. Leave it for a technician.
It may not, or it may behave unevenly, because the control has no trusted temperature. We recommend pausing use until we inspect it. Please note that heat may also be uneven, so avoid cooking anything that depends on exact temperature.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
