On Wolf legacy dual fuel ranges such as the DF364C and DF486C, ERR 09 means the control detected the meat probe as shorted. The probe input sees a short circuit rather than a normal temperature reading, so probe-based cooking will not work. The oven display shows the code, and normal bake settings without the probe may still be available once the probe is unplugged.
1. Turn the oven OFF and let it cool. 2. Unplug the meat probe and set it aside. 3. Wipe the probe plug dry and check it is not bent or cracked. 4. Turn the oven on without the probe and see whether the code is gone. 5. If ERR 09 shows with no probe in, call us.
Often yes if ERR 09 clears when it is unplugged. A shorted probe cannot report temperature. We can help you find the right replacement. Probes get bent, soaked, or pinched in the door, and those are the usual reasons for a short.
Usually you can bake without the probe, but run the oven only if no other code shows. If unsure, call us first. Bake and broil without the probe are normally unaffected, but only if no second code appears alongside it.
Then the problem sits in the oven-side jack or control input. Call us and we will quote the repair before starting. A technician can test whether the problem is the probe, the oven wall jack, or the control input.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
