On Wolf DFxx50 dual fuel ranges from 2020 on, such as the DF30450/S/P and DF36450G/S/P, code 4222 means the broil element load is missing. The control powered the broil circuit and measured no load, so the element looks open or unplugged. You will see 4222, and broiling may not heat at all. This is different from 0521, which reports a short, not a missing load.
1. Turn the oven off and let it cool completely. 2. Look at the top of the oven for a broken or blistered element, without touching it. 3. Power-cycle the range through its breaker, with a one-minute wait. 4. If 4222 returns, leave broil unused and call us.
Code 0521 means the broil element circuit is shorted. Code 4222 means no load is detected on broil, as if the element were open. Both stop broiling, but the checks differ.
Often it does, because bake uses another element. Try a bake cycle for dinner, and book a visit if broil is important to you. We explain what we find in plain words, so there is no surprise charge afterward.
Possibly, but not always. A loose terminal or a relay can cause the same reading. We test before quoting, so you only pay for what is needed.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
