On legacy Wolf dual fuel ranges with text error messages, such as the DF series, RELAY CAL means the relay phase calibration failed. The guidance is to replace the relay board only if the message is seen four times in diagnostic mode, since one-off readings can be noise. Owners may see RELAY CAL during startup or a power-up check, and the oven may not heat normally. A single appearance is treated with caution.
1. Turn the oven off. 2. Power the range down at the breaker for two minutes before restoring it. 3. Wait a minute and see if the display returns to normal. 4. If RELAY CAL shows again, do not reset repeatedly. Call us so we can read the repeat count in diagnostic mode.
One failure can come from a power glitch. Seeing it four times in diagnostic mode shows a real problem. That rule helps avoid replacing a board that was fine.
We advise leaving it to us. The mode shows internal readings and tests parts, and mistakes can leave the oven in a state that is confusing to clear.
It may not heat properly. Since the relays control heating parts, we suggest not using the oven until we have checked the calibration count. We read the count first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
