What OPP means

On Wolf legacy dual fuel double-oven ranges, OPP on an oven knob display is not an error. It tells you one oven is running a self-clean cycle, so the control senses its door motor lock as engaged and will not let the other oven be used until the cycle ends. You will see OPP when you try to turn on the second oven. Wall ovens do not use this display, so a wall oven showing OPP is a different situation and should be described to us by phone.

Common causes of OPP

  • One oven is in a self-clean cycle with its door lock engaged
  • The door lock has not released yet because the oven is still hot after cleaning
  • The cleaning cycle was started earlier and forgotten
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Check whether the other oven is in a self-clean cycle or still locked afterward. 2. Let the cycle finish and the oven cool until the lock releases on its own. 3. Use the OFF position on the knob of the cleaning oven only if you want to end the cycle. 4. Never force the door open while it is locked. 5. If OPP stays after the cleaning oven is cool and unlocked, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Forcing a locked door can damage the latch and the door frame.
  • If OPP lingers with no cleaning cycle running, the lock sensing may be off, and that needs a trained check.
  • We quote a written price before any work, so you know the cost first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

OPPOPP questions
Is OPP a sign my range is broken?

No. It is a normal message while one oven is self-cleaning. Once the cycle ends and the door unlocks, the second oven becomes available again with no action needed.

Can I cancel the cleaning cycle to use the other oven?

Yes. Turn the cleaning oven knob to OFF and wait for it to cool and unlock. Do not pull on the door while the lock is still engaged.

What if OPP stays on after the cycle?

Call us. A lock that does not release or is not sensed correctly needs a technician. We give a written price first and back repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
