On Wolf M Series wall ovens, code 1021 means the relay that powers the upper oven's bake element is read as open, so the element is not getting its supply when the control calls for heat. The lower oven version is 1022. Owners see the code on the display, and the upper oven heats slowly or not at all from the bottom. Owners typically notice slow preheating or a mode that no longer heats the way it used to.
1. Switch the oven off, then wait for the cavity to cool. 2. Make sure the oven breaker is on and has not tripped. 3. Reset power at the breaker for a minute, then try a short bake. 4. If the code returns, stop using that mode and call us. Do not touch the wiring behind the oven.
The upper bake element relay reads as open, so the bottom element may never receive power. Check that the oven is on and that the breaker is not tripped. Then we test the relay and element to see which one needs replacing.
The code means a heating output is not powered, which is a safe failure. The oven will not overheat from it, but cooking in that mode will be poor. We suggest avoiding the mode until we test it.
