E74 on Wolf CSO convection steam ovens, including the CSO24 and CSO30 series, usually shows up during or after descaling. The official causes are no descaling solution added, an error measuring the water level that may come from foam, a retractable handle problem, and a grill actuator that is defective or not connected. On knob-control models the first check is whether descaling solution was actually added.
1. If this appeared during descaling, confirm the descaling solution was added to the tank as the guide shows. 2. Run the rinse step with fresh water to clear any foam. 3. Check that the retractable handle sits fully in or out and is not blocked. 4. Power off for a minute and try again. 5. If E74 returns, call us.
The oven expects descaler in the tank. If none was added, or foam disturbs the level reading, it stops with E74. Re-checking the step and rinsing often settles it.
Yes. A retractable handle that is jammed or misreading is one of the listed causes, so make sure it moves freely without forcing it. Starting point for us is usually descaling solution not added on knob-control models, with the price written down before any work.
If the rinse and a power cycle do not clear it, call us. We will test the actuator and handle, and quote in writing before any work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
