What Lock/Door inputs invalid for Clean means

This message appears on Wolf Legacy E Series wall ovens from the SO30TE/PE generation. Code 04 x 1 says the lock and door inputs reaching the control board are not valid for a cleaning cycle, so the oven refuses to start self-clean or stops it. In plain terms, the board cannot confirm that the door is shut and latched the way cleaning requires.

Common causes of Lock/Door inputs invalid for Clean

  • Door switch input not agreeing with the latch state
  • Door latch inputs invalid at the board
  • Wiring between latch and control board
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Let the oven cool completely. 2. Close the door firmly and check that nothing, such as a rack or foil, holds it open. 3. Clear spills from the door frame and latch area. 4. Try the clean cycle again once. If 04 x 1 returns, stop self-clean and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Latch and door switch signals have to be read at the board, which means testing powered electronics.
  • Running self-clean with a questionable latch is not something we advise.
  • A written price comes first, and our repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Lock/Door inputs invalid for CleanLock/Door inputs invalid for Clean questions
What does 04 x 1 mean?

It means the lock and door inputs reaching the control board are invalid for a cleaning cycle. The oven cannot trust that the door is closed and latched, so it will not clean.

Does the same code apply to the new SO3050TE?

No. Newer E Series ovens use four-digit M-style codes. The 04 x 1 format belongs to the older SO30TE and SO30PE generation. Tell us your exact model number when you call so we match the right code.

Can I still bake while this shows?

Often baking works, but we suggest not using self-clean until the latch check is done. If the code appears during normal use, call us. Normal baking can continue, but the latch check should come first.
