On Wolf convection microwaves such as the MWC24 and MC24, Fire Sense is the automatic fire detection in microwave mode. The control samples the thermistor circuit every 32 seconds, and a rise of 300 mV over the previous reading is judged to be a fire. It then cuts the relays to the power transformer, fan and convection motor, stops the countdown and closes the damper. You will see the oven stop suddenly.
1. Keep the door closed and press stop. 2. If you see flames or smoke, leave the door shut, switch off the breaker and call emergency services. 3. If it was a false alarm, wait until the cavity is cool before opening the door. 4. Wipe out any residue and air out the kitchen. 5. If it shuts down again with nothing burning, call us.
Every 32 seconds the control samples the thermistor circuit. A rise of 300 mV over the previous reading is treated as a fire. Whatever we replace is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Relays to the power transformer, fan and convection motor are cut, the countdown stops and the damper closes. Guessing at parts costs more than a clear diagnosis, so we test first.
It can react to a fast reading change, such as a sensor circuit problem. If nothing was burning and it repeats, we should test it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
