What F2 means

Early Wolf induction cooktops like the CT30I/S and CT36I/S display F2 when the temperature sensor on the front cooking zone reads open. The control gets no signal at all from that sensor, as if the wire were broken or unplugged, and it will not heat that zone without it. The rear zone may keep working, since it has its own sensor and circuit.

Common causes of F2

  • Open circuit in the front zone sensor
  • Loose sensor connector under the glass
  • Broken sensor lead
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Switch off the cooktop and let it cool. 2. Turn its disconnect off for 60 seconds, then back on. 3. Check the rear zone with a flat magnetic pan. 4. If F2 comes back, stop and contact us for a visit. Do not open the cooktop or tug at wiring.

! Why to stop there
  • Tracing an open sensor lead means working beneath the glass.
  • A broken wire and a failed sensor look the same from outside, so we test each.
  • You receive the price in writing before work.
  • Our job has a 30-day workmanship warranty, confirmed in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F2F2 questions
How does F2 differ from F1?

F2 means the front sensor circuit is open, with no signal. F1 means it is shorted. Both stop the front zone, but we check for different things.

Could a loose connector cause F2?

Yes. Vibration or repeated heat cycles can loosen a connector under the glass. We reseat and test connections before replacing any part, and then we quote.

Do I need to replace the cooktop?

Almost never for a sensor issue. We find the exact cause under the glass and quote the repair in writing before you decide anything about parts.
