On Wolf CI induction cooktops with the 2015-and-newer EGO control, for example the CI304T/S and CI365C/B, E9 is a temperature monitoring error. The control cannot read or trust the temperature signal it uses to protect the glass and electronics. The display shows E9, and the cooktop may reduce power or stop heating. Heating may slow down or stop while the code shows.
1. Turn off all zones and let the glass cool fully. 2. Remove any pan with a very hot or empty base from the surface. 3. Turn its breaker switch off for 60 seconds, then back on. 4. When E9 shows up again, leave it off and call us. Do not lift the glass.
Heating an empty pan can overheat the glass quickly and trip temperature protection. If E9 showed after that, let it cool and test again with a filled pan.
Then the issue is probably the sensor or its connection, not the cooking. That calls for a technician to test the sensor circuit under the glass.
The meaning is the same on newer integrated modules, which show it as E9 (CI/TM). The visit begins at the temperature sensor either way, so you can expect the same checks.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
