E8 is a fan error on Wolf CI induction cooktops with the 2015-and-newer control, CE electric cooktops such as the CE304C/B, and the 2015 integrated modules like the TM15TF/S. The control found that the cooling fan is not running as expected. Without good airflow the electronics can overheat, so the cooktop may cut power or limit heat while E8 shows.
1. Turn all zones off and let the cooktop cool. 2. Check that nothing is stored directly under the cooktop blocking the vents, such as boxes or a cutting board. 3. Turn the cooktop's breaker switch off for 60 seconds, then reset it. 4. Should E8 reappear, stop using the cooktop and contact us for a visit. Do not open the unit.
It is better not to. The fan protects the electronics from heat, and heating without it risks damage that can cost far more than the fan itself.
Yes. Items pressed against the underside can restrict airflow. Clearing them is a fair first step, though a failed fan will keep showing E8 even after the vents are clear.
Yes. CI induction, CE electric, and integrated modules all use E8 for a fan problem, so the visit begins at the fan and its airflow.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
