On Wolf CT electric cooktops (CTE and CTE-2), such as the CT30E/S and CT36EU, E65 is an L1 associated failure, including a stuck relay. One of the two incoming power legs, L1, is involved in a relay that is not releasing or switching as it should. The display shows E65, and an element may stay energized or fail to heat.
1. If any element stays hot with the controls off, switch the breaker off immediately. 2. Otherwise let the cooktop cool and reset the breaker for one minute. 3. When E65 shows up again, stop using the cooktop and arrange a technician. Do not touch internal wiring.
A household cooktop is fed by two live legs, called L1 and L2. E65 points to the relay or the wiring on the L1 side of the power supply.
The breaker is the only reliable way to cut power when a relay is stuck closed and an element will not turn off. Use it, then call us.
Usually not. Most of these repairs involve the power module or a relay rather than the whole unit, and we price the exact part for you first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
