What E64 means

On Wolf CT electric cooktops (CTE and CTE-2), including the CT30EU and CT36EU, E64 reports a bad or incorrectly wired power module. The control checked the power module's connections and found that the module has failed or its wiring is not as it should be. The display shows E64, and the cooktop will not heat normally. Other elements may or may not still work.

Common causes of E64

  • Failed power module
  • Power module wiring connected incorrectly, for instance after an earlier repair
  • Loose or damaged harness at the module
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn every element off and let the cooktop cool. 2. Turn its breaker off for 60 seconds, then back on. 3. If the cooktop was recently serviced or moved, tell us when we call. 4. Should E64 reappear, stop and schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • A wiring or module problem needs a careful inspection of the connections.
  • Incorrect wiring can damage other parts, so we correct it before running the cooktop.
  • You receive a written price before work.
  • Our job carries a 30-day workmanship warranty, confirmed in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E64E64 questions
How can wiring be wrong on a cooktop I never opened?

It usually is not. It can follow an earlier repair, a moved cabinet, or a loosened connection. We check connections first, then the module itself.

Does E64 mean a new module?

Not always. If we find a wiring issue, correcting it can clear the code. If the module has failed, we quote its replacement before ordering.

Is it safe to try the cooktop again?

We recommend not running it until it has been inspected, because incorrect wiring or a bad module can stress other parts of the control and cost more later.
