On Wolf CT electric cooktops (CTE and CTE-2), such as the CT30EU and CT36EU, E58 signals a power module configuration fuse error. The setup data burned into the power module, which tells it the size and type of cooktop it serves, is missing or does not read correctly. You will see E58, and the cooktop will not heat as expected.
1. Turn all elements off and allow the glass to cool. 2. Turn the wall breaker switch off for one minute, then turn it on again. 3. Check that nothing metal or wet is on the touch controls. 4. When E58 shows up again, stop and book a visit. Do not remove the glass or touch internal wiring.
The power module carries setup data that matches your cooktop's size. If those settings do not match, the board rejects them, so any replacement has to fit your exact unit.
A reset only restarts the electronics. If the configuration data is missing or wrong, the code returns immediately and the module needs replacing, not another reset.
It stops the cooktop from running with unknown settings, which is a protective choice. It is not a fire warning, but please do not force it to work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
