E55 closes the E53 to E55 series on earlier Wolf CT induction cooktops, such as the CT30 and CT36 sizes, and reports a shorted generator heat sink thermistor. The cooktop cannot read the heat sink temperature, so heating for that generator may be restricted. You will see E55 in the display and some burners may refuse to start. The open version of the same sensor reading is E50 through E52.
1. Switch off all burners and let the unit cool. 2. Turn the cooktop breaker off for a minute and on again. 3. Test one burner on low. 4. If E55 returns, do not keep trying. 5. Book a visit and give us the model number from the data label.
Each number points to a different generator or position. E53, E54 and E55 all share the shorted thermistor meaning. We test every function we touched before we call the job done.
Some may still work, but the cooktop is protecting itself for a reason. We suggest waiting for a check. Where we can, we offer the repair at the same visit once you approve the price.
That depends on a test of the thermistor and generator board. We explain the result and the written price before any work. Report anything unusual such as smells or noises when you call, so we prepare properly.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
