What E10 means

On Wolf CT electric cooktops such as the CT36EU, E10 means the display board detected a network failure, so the control parts are not communicating. On integrated module cooktops from the 2015 series, such as the FM15TF/S, E10 means a dry start at startup on a steamer or fryer: the module tried to start without liquid. The display shows E10, and the cooktop or module will not begin heating.

Common causes of E10

  • Network link to the display board broken on a CT electric cooktop
  • Steamer or fryer module started with no water or oil in the vessel
  • Control board that is not reading the module correctly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the cooktop off and let any module cool. 2. On a steamer or fryer module, check that the vessel holds the right amount of water or oil, then restart. 3. Wait one minute with the breaker off, then restore power to the cooktop. 4. On a CT cooktop, if E10 stays, stop and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A dry start can be a simple fill problem, but a network failure needs a technician, and the display alone does not tell which one you have.
  • Display and network wiring are behind the glass and close to live power.
  • We state the price in writing before anything is touched, with 30 days of workmanship coverage.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E10E10 questions
How do I avoid a dry start on a module?

Fill the steamer with water or the fryer with oil to the marked level before turning it on. E10 on these modules means they started without liquid.

Does a CT cooktop use E10 the same way?

No. On CT electric cooktops E10 means the display board detected a network failure. There is no liquid involved, so refilling does nothing. The model label on the cooktop tells us which meaning applies.

Is a dry start harmful?

Running any heating module empty can damage it, which is why the control stops it. If E10 repeats with a full vessel, we check the sensor and board.
