What E02 means

E02 reads differently on two Wolf platforms. On CT electric cooktops such as the CT36E/S, it points to a power module heat sink that is too hot, with the cooling fan checked first and the power module next. On integrated module cooktops from the 2015 series, such as the CI152TF/S, it means the main RTD temperature sensor reads open, above 1000F for 20 seconds. Either way the cooktop usually stops heating and shows E02.

Common causes of E02

  • Cooling fan on a CT cooktop not moving enough air across the heat sink
  • Heat sink or power module overheating on a CT cooktop
  • Main RTD sensor circuit open on a 2015-series module cooktop
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn all elements off and leave the cooktop alone for 30 minutes so it can cool. 2. Clear anything sitting on or against the cooktop vent area. 3. Flip the cooktop breaker off, count to sixty, and flip it back on. 4. If E02 comes back right away, stop using the cooktop; a sensor or fan needs a technician and cannot be tested safely at home.

! Why to stop there
  • A cooling fan, a power module, and a sensor circuit look the same from the outside, so guessing means paying for the wrong part.
  • Reaching the heat sink or sensor wiring means removing panels near live power.
  • You see a written price before we start, and the finished repair carries our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E02E02 questions
Which platform am I on if I see E02?

CT cooktops have model numbers beginning CT, such as CT30E/S. The 2015-series module cooktops have numbers such as CE152TF/S, SM15TF/S, or TM15TF/S. The model label tells us which meaning applies.

Can a noisy or silent fan be involved?

On a CT cooktop, yes. The official check starts with the cooling fan. If the fan does not run or is blocked, the heat sink cannot shed heat and E02 can appear.

Is it safe to keep cooking on other zones?

We recommend not using the cooktop while E02 is showing. An overheating power module or an unreliable sensor can affect how the unit controls heat.
