What E9 (CI/TM) means

On Wolf's 2015 integrated module cooktops, including the CE152TF/S, SM15TF/S and GM15TF/S, E9 reports a temperature monitoring error. The module's control cannot get a dependable temperature reading, which it needs to protect the glass and its own electronics. The display shows E9, and the module may limit its output or stop heating. Heating may slow down or stop altogether while the code shows.

Common causes of E9 (CI/TM)

  • Temperature sensor reading out of range on the module
  • Loose sensor connection
  • Module control misreading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the module off and let it cool completely. 2. Remove any empty or overheated pan. 3. Turn the unit's breaker switch off for 60 seconds, then restore power. 4. If the E9 code returns, stop and book a visit. Do not remove the module from the counter.

! Why to stop there
  • Integrated modules are compact, so even a sensor check involves careful removal.
  • Testing the sensor circuit beats guessing at boards.
  • We give you a written estimate before work.
  • Our fix comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty, confirmed in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E9 (CI/TM)E9 (CI/TM) questions
Why the CI/TM label?

It shows the code on the newer integrated modules, such as TM15TF/S, as opposed to the full-size CI induction cooktops that also use E9. The label simply tells you which type of cooktop you have.

Does E9 mean the module is too hot?

Not always. It means the control cannot trust its temperature reading, which may be due to heat or to a failed sensor. We test to learn which.

Can the sensor be replaced alone?

Often yes. We confirm what failed first, then quote the specific sensor and the labor in writing before any work begins, so you know the cost in advance.
