On Wolf CT electric cooktops (CTE and CTE-2), including the CT30E/S and CT36EU, E70 is a display RAM error. The working memory on the display board did not pass its self-check. The cooktop shows E70, and the controls may behave strangely, freeze, or lock the cooktop out of heating. Some owners notice a blank or scrambled display, or controls that will not respond.
1. Turn off the cooktop and let it cool. 2. Turn the wall circuit breaker off for 60 seconds, then turn it on again. 3. Dry the touch area and clear anything resting on it. 4. If E70 appears again, stop and arrange a technician. Do not pry at the panel.
They both concern the display board, but E57 is a program-storage check and E70 is its working memory. Both usually end with a replacement display board.
Sometimes it works for a short while. If the working memory is truly failing, E70 returns soon after, and the display board needs to be replaced.
Often the whole display board is replaced as a unit. We confirm that on site and quote the cost before ordering anything, so there are no surprises.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
