E45 appears on two Wolf induction platforms and means different things. On earlier CT induction cooktops such as the CT30I/S and CT36I/S, it means a generator burner sensor reads open. On the newer touchscreen CI cooktops, for example the CI30460T/S and CI36560C/B, it reports a LIN hardware error, a problem with the internal communication link. Owners see E45 and reduced or no heating.
1. Turn all zones off and let the surface cool. 2. Turn the cooktop's circuit breaker off for one minute, then reset it. 3. Wipe the glass and touch area dry. 4. If E45 returns, note which model line you have and call us. Do not remove the glass or open any panel.
Older CT30I/S and CT36I/S units follow the sensor meaning, while newer CI30460T/S and CI36560T/S touchscreen models follow the LIN meaning. The model number printed on your cooktop's data label settles which one you have.
A single breaker reset can clear a momentary communication hiccup. If E45 returns right away, a sensor or board needs inspection and repeated resets will not help.
It is not a safety alarm, but the cooktop may be unreliable. We recommend scheduling a visit rather than waiting for a complete loss of heating.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
