On the earlier Wolf CT induction cooktops, such as the CT30I/S and CT36I/S, E44 reports that the generator sensor for the RL burner reads open. The control cannot see a temperature signal from that burner, so it shuts that burner down to protect the glass and electronics. You will see E44 and that one burner will not heat. The remaining burners usually keep working normally.
1. Turn off every zone and allow the cooktop to cool fully. 2. Turn the wall breaker off for one minute, then turn it on again. 3. Clean the glass and test the other burners with a flat magnetic pan. 4. If the RL burner stays dead or E44 reappears, schedule service. Do not lift the glass or probe any wiring.
RL is the burner position as the control labels it. E44 refers to that burner's sensor circuit, and the other burners can keep working because each one has its own sensor circuit.
The control isolates the burner whose sensor it cannot read. That is a safety choice, so the cooktop protects itself instead of heating blindly, while cooking can continue on the other burners.
No. E44 is an electrical reading, not a glass break. We still check the glass surface during the visit so nothing is overlooked, and we tell you what we find.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
