On Wolf CI induction cooktops with the 2015-and-newer control, such as the CI304T/S and CI365C/B, E4 means the control board has read a configuration that does not make sense for the unit. In plain words, the board's stored setup and the hardware it finds do not agree. The display shows E4 and the cooktop usually refuses to heat until the condition clears.
1. Turn every zone off and let the glass cool. 2. Turn the cooktop's breaker off for one minute, then reset it. 3. Wipe the glass dry and remove pans and spills from the touch area. 4. If E4 returns, stop using the cooktop and call us. Do not lift the unit or open any panel yourself.
It can clear a one-time glitch, so one reset is worth trying. If E4 comes straight back, the board is reading a real mismatch, and further resets will not fix it.
If the cooktop lets you heat, nothing dangerous is happening, but an implausible configuration can change how power is shared. We suggest pausing use until we check it.
