Wolf M Series wall ovens log 1831 when the motorized door lock (MDL) relay for the upper oven is read as open, so the lock circuit is not completing when the control calls for it. The lower oven reports 1832. You see the code, and the upper door may not lock for a cleaning cycle. A door that behaves differently from normal is the first thing most owners notice.
1. Let the oven cool completely, because heat keeps the lock closed. 2. Check that nothing blocks the door gasket or latch area. 3. Reset power at the breaker for about a minute. 4. Never force the door or open the control panel. If the code comes back, we handle the lock.
A clean cycle needs the door locked, and 1831 says the upper lock relay is open. The control cannot finish the lock, so the cycle will not run. Close the door fully and try once. If the code returns, we repair it.
We recommend against it. A clean cycle relies on the lock holding the door shut at very high heat, and this code says the lock circuit is not behaving. Bake and roast are normally fine until we repair the lock.
We test the relay output, the wiring, and the lock motor, then tell you which one failed and what it costs in writing. You approve before we start, and the work is covered for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
