Wolf M Series wall ovens, the 30-inch single and double models, show 0731 when the control finds the electronic switch that powers the upper oven light shorted, meaning it conducts when it should not. The lower oven reports the same condition as 0732. Owners usually see the code flash on the display, and the upper oven light may stay lit or behave oddly. The lamp circuit has no bearing on how food cooks, so the oven can often keep working while we arrange a visit and a written price.
1. Turn the oven off and let it cool. 2. Switch the oven breaker off for one minute, then back on. 3. See whether the light and the display behave normally. 4. If 0731 returns, leave the light alone, do not unscrew anything inside the cavity, and book a visit.
Not by itself. The code points at the upper oven light switching circuit, not at a heating element. Some ovens still bake normally while the code shows, but a lamp that cannot switch off can run hot, so we test it soon.
Removing a cool bulb is harmless, but it does not repair the shorted switch behind it. The code will stay and the circuit can still be energized. We suggest leaving it and having us test the board output.
We give you a written price before any work starts, and the repair carries our 30-day workmanship warranty. If the light circuit is the only problem, we say so plainly and quote just that.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
