On Wolf GR gas ranges, a call-for-heat (CFH) or preheat light that flashes rapidly while the oven is off means the control is seeing electrical noise, such as from dimmers, or loose wiring. The oven is idle, but the control behaves as if it received a heat call. You will see the light flashing with nothing set. Jot down when CFH / preheat light flashing (oven off) began and what you were doing, as that narrows our first checks.
1. Make sure the oven knob and controls are off. 2. If you smell gas at any point, leave the house right away and call the gas utility from outside. 3. Turn nearby dimmer lights fully up or off and see whether the flashing stops. 4. Briefly drop power at the breaker, about one minute, and then restore it. 5. If it keeps flashing, call us. Do not open the range.
Rapid flashing while idle points to electrical noise, often from dimmers, or loose wiring. The control reacts to noise as if it were a call for heat.
Flashing alone is not a gas leak. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside, then call us.
It may. If the flashing stops when dimmers are off or up, noise was the cause. If not, we inspect the wiring and control. We would rather test than guess, which keeps the visit short and focused.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
