On Wolf V Series cooktop hoods such as the VW30S, VW36S, VI42S, and VW45G, a display showing 88 or 8.8. with every LED lit is not a normal reading. Wolf lists no owner fix for it, and service is needed. The owner sees all indicators glowing and the hood may not respond to its controls the way it should. Nothing shown there is a setting you can change.
1. Turn the hood off with its control. 2. Switch off the hood breaker for a minute, then restore it. 3. Watch whether the display returns to normal. 4. Do not remove covers or filters to look inside. 5. If 88 or 8.8. returns, leave the hood off and call us.
No. With all LEDs lit, the display is showing a full test pattern rather than a setting. It is a sign the hood needs service.
The controls may not respond properly, so we do not recommend relying on it. You can switch it off at the breaker until a visit, and use a window for ventilation.
One reset is harmless and worth trying. If the display comes back showing 88 or 8.8., there is nothing more an owner can safely do, and we can quote the repair in writing first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
