A Wolf rangetop is a professional-style gas cooking surface set into the counter with no oven below. Burners and a griddle or charbroiler share one gas supply, so we check the whole top during each visit.
In the order we see them across Houston homes.
Wolf rangetops come in several widths with sealed burners and, on many models, a griddle, charbroiler or French top in the center. They have no oven underneath, so they often sit above drawers or a separate wall oven, under a large hood.
Heavy home cooking means grease, and in a humid Houston kitchen that grease clings to burner bases, igniter tips and the switches behind each knob. Homes near the bay also see faster corrosion on grates and burner hardware.
We light each burner at high and low settings, look at flame shape and color, then test igniters, the spark module, valves and griddle controls. You receive a written price before work starts, and any change to the house gas supply goes to a licensed plumber.

A rangetop has front-mounted knobs and a heavier, pro-style burner layout, and it usually sits under a powerful hood. The valves, igniters and griddle or charbroiler parts are reached from above and from the front, so access and parts differ from a cooktop.
Usually. A griddle depends on its burner, a thermostat and clean flame ports underneath the plate. Grease that drips through can choke the burner. We clean, test the thermostat and check gas pressure before recommending any part.
Light cleaning helps but isn't required. Please remove pans and lift off the grates if you can, and let the surface cool. Avoid spraying cleaner into the knob openings, since liquid there can reach the ignition switches.
