What E09 / F0 means

E09 / F0 is a Wolf CSO steam oven code, seen on the 24-inch and 30-inch CSO series, that indicates a short circuit in the PT temperature sensor or in its wiring. The PT sensor tells the oven how hot the cooking space is, so without a believable reading the oven cannot regulate heat. The oven typically stops heating, shows the code, and will not hold a steam or convection temperature.

Common causes of E09 / F0

  • Short inside the PT sensor
  • Short in the sensor wiring
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven off and let it cool fully; the cavity can stay hot for a long while. 2. Check that no food or liner is touching the rear of the cavity. 3. Take the breaker off for a minute and restore power and let the display restart. 4. If the code returns, do not use the oven and call us. Do not remove the back or any panel.

! Why to stop there
  • A shorted sensor or wire has to be tested with a meter, not by eye.
  • Running an oven with an unreliable temperature reading can overcook or undercook food.
  • We write the price before work and back repairs for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E09 / F0E09 / F0 questions
Is the sensor expensive?

Sensors are usually a modest part compared with a control board. We cannot name a figure before confirming which part has failed. Once we test the sensor and its wiring, we give you the exact price in writing.

Can a loose wire cause this?

Yes, the official description names the sensor or its wiring. A bad connection can mimic a failed sensor, so we test both before replacing anything. That keeps you from paying for a part you do not need.

Is there a fire risk?

The code describes a sensing problem, not overheating. Still, an oven that cannot read its own temperature should not be left running. Turn it off and have us check it before you cook again.
