What RTD SHORTED means

On legacy Wolf dual fuel ranges with text error messages, such as the DF series, RTD SHORTED means the RTD oven sensor is shorted. The control reads a value that cannot be valid, so it will not heat the oven. Owners see RTD SHORTED on the display, and the oven refuses to preheat or may switch off during a cycle. Cooking resumes once the sensor circuit is sound.
