On legacy Wolf dual fuel ranges with text error messages, such as the DF series, KEYBOARD ERROR is a key communication error. The oven sees a key signal that it cannot interpret, such as a stuck or unreadable press. Owners see KEYBOARD ERROR and the oven may ignore the keys, beep, or lock out settings until the key condition is cleared.
1. Turn the oven off and look at the panel for anything pressing on a key, such as a pan lid, towel, or cleaning residue. 2. Wipe the panel with a slightly damp cloth. 3. Switch the range off at the breaker for two minutes, then on. 4. When the message comes back again, phone us. Do not pry at the panel.
The controller found a key signal that makes no sense, like a key reading as pressed all the time. That can come from residue, wear, or a loose connection behind the panel.
KEY COMM means the controller and the panel stopped communicating. KEYBOARD ERROR is about the key signals themselves being wrong. The fixes can overlap, so we check both.
If the oven still responds to your keys and shuts off, you can carefully use it. If keys act on their own, turn it off and call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
