On legacy Wolf dual fuel ranges with text error messages, such as the DF series, KEY COMM means communication has failed between the oven controller and the control panel assembly. The controller cannot get key presses from the panel, so oven controls may not respond or may act oddly. Owners see KEY COMM on the display and settings cannot be changed.
1. Turn the oven off. 2. Flip the range breaker off for two minutes, then return it to on. 3. Press a key and see whether the display reacts. 4. If KEY COMM remains, do not press repeatedly or pry at the panel. Call us so the panel and the controller link can be tested.
It is the front panel with the keys and display that you touch. KEY COMM says the controller behind it stopped hearing from that panel.
It can if cleaner got behind the panel. Spray cleaner onto a cloth, not the panel. If it already happened, switch off the range and let it dry before calling us.
Not reliably. If the controller cannot read your keys, you cannot control or stop the oven normally, so we suggest leaving it off until it is repaired.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
