On legacy Wolf dual fuel ranges with text error messages, such as the DF series, F1 or Stuck Relay means a relay is stuck, effectively welded closed. Technicians are told to test the elements and motors for shorts. A stuck relay can keep a heating element or motor powered when it should be off, so the oven shows the message and may heat unexpectedly.
1. If the oven is heating when it should not, turn it off and switch the range off at the breaker. 2. Leave the oven door closed and let it cool. 3. Restore power only if the oven is behaving normally, and check whether the message returns. 4. Call us. Testing elements and motors for shorts is not an owner job.
A relay that should open and close has welded in one position. That can leave an element or motor powered unexpectedly, which is why the oven reports it as an error.
A shorted element or motor can damage the relay. If we only change the relay and miss the short, the new relay may fail quickly. We test the full circuit.
We advise against it. A stuck relay can cause heat when you do not expect it. Turn the oven off at the breaker if it heats on its own and call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
