Code E9 on Wolf legacy induction ranges such as the IR304TE/S/TH and IR365TE/S/TH means the cooktop has a temperature monitoring error. The control cannot read the temperature it depends on to heat safely, so it limits or stops the zones and shows E9. Owners see the zones go dark mid-cooking or refuse to start at all. Nothing on the glass itself needs to be broken for E9 to appear.
1. Turn all zones off and let the cooktop cool for half an hour. 2. Wipe the glass surface so no spill sits over the zones. 3. Reset the range at its breaker for two minutes. 4. Try a low setting with a flat pan. If E9 shows again, stop and call us. Do not attempt to reach the sensors yourself.
The cooktop watches temperatures to protect the glass and electronics. E9 says that monitoring is failing, so the control stops heat rather than cook without it.
It can clear an error that came from real heat, but if E9 comes back on a cool cooktop, the sensor or board is the likelier cause and a visit is needed.
Usually not. E9 is about monitoring temperature, not about the glass. We check the sensing and electronics first and tell you the price before we order parts.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
