What OVER TEMP means

On Wolf L Series legacy wall ovens with the Invensys control, such as the SO30F/S and SO36U/S, OVER TEMP is displayed when the cavity reaches 630°F with the door unlocked or 930°F with the door locked. The oven shuts heating off. The usual routine is to ohm the RTD sensor, replace it if it is bad, and otherwise replace the relay board.

Common causes of OVER TEMP

  • RTD oven sensor reading incorrectly
  • Relay board holding an element on
  • Genuine overheating of the cavity
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven off and keep the door closed until it cools below warm to the touch. 2. Switch off the breaker for a minute. 3. Restore power and try a low bake while watching the display. 4. If OVER TEMP returns, leave the oven off and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Overtemperature can mean an element stuck on, which is a fire risk.
  • Sensor and relay board checks need meters and panel access.
  • Written price first, and our repair includes a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

OVER TEMPOVER TEMP questions
At what temperature does OVER TEMP trigger?

On the L Series oven it triggers at 630°F with the door unlocked or 930°F with the door locked. Other legacy platforms can use slightly different limits, so we confirm your model.

What is the RTD?

It is the oven temperature sensor. If it reads wrongly, the control may think the oven is cooler than it is and keep heating. A technician measures its resistance before blaming the relay board.

Is OVER TEMP dangerous?

It is a protection shutdown, so treat it seriously. Do not keep restarting the oven. Let it cool and call us so the sensor and relay board are checked.
