Wolf 24-inch E Series wall ovens in the SO24 and SO2450 families show E85 for a short circuit in the slide motor or its wiring. The slide motor moves a part inside the oven, and a short means it cannot run safely, so the oven stops that function and displays E85. The door or a moving part may not operate as expected.
1. Press Off and let the oven cool. 2. Turn the breaker off for a minute and on again. 3. Do not force any moving part by hand. 4. If E85 returns, call us. Do not open the cavity wall or touch the motor wiring.
It moves a mechanism inside the oven. E85 means its circuit is shorted. The motor sits inside the oven structure. It sits inside the oven structure, so owners cannot see or reach it safely.
Possibly in some modes, but it is wiser to wait until the short is found. A shorted motor should be repaired before use. A shorted motor should be repaired before the oven is used again.
They are linked. E85 is a short, E86 is a break or loose contact. One is a short, the other an open circuit. One is a short, the other is an open circuit, and both involve the same motor.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
