Wolf 24-inch E Series wall ovens like the SO24 and SO2450 lines show E17 when the food probe circuit looks shorted. The official causes are a short in the probe or its wiring, a probe not inserted into the food so the tip gets too hot, or moisture in the probe socket. The oven usually stops probe cooking while regular Bake may still work.
1. Remove the probe, let it cool, and wipe the plug and socket dry. 2. Leave the oven door open a few minutes so the socket dries. 3. Next time push the probe tip deep into the center of the food, not touching bone or the pan. 4. If E17 appears without the probe plugged in, call us.
The oven sees a short in the probe circuit. Common reasons are a tip that is not in the food, a damp socket, or a damaged probe.
Often yes, because E17 concerns the probe circuit. Remove the probe, dry the socket, and try a normal Bake. Press the tip all the way into the thickest part of the food.
If E17 returns with the probe removed and the socket dry, the wiring or socket needs a technician. Otherwise the wiring is the next place we look.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
