On Wolf's early induction cooktops, including the CT30I/S and CT36I/S, F3 reports that the temperature sensor on the rear cooking zone is shorted. The control reads an impossible signal from that sensor and will not run the rear zone. You will see F3, and the rear burner stays cold while others may still work. The front zone may keep working.
1. Turn all zones off and let the surface cool. 2. Turn the unit's disconnect off for 60 seconds, then restore power. 3. Try the front zone with a magnetic pan. 4. If F3 appears again, stop using the cooktop and call us. Do not lift the glass.
F3 is the rear zone's shorted sensor. The matching front zone codes are F1 for shorted and F2 for open, so the letter and number tell us where to look.
The control cannot tell how hot the glass is, so it will not apply power. That protects the glass from overheating, which is a deliberate safety choice.
If it heats normally, it is working, but we advise a visit soon since the sensors share a control board and the problem may spread.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
