Wolf CI induction cooktops with the touchscreen control, such as the CI30460T/S and CI36560T/S, show E04 for a data flash error, which means the stored data the control relies on could not be read properly. On Wolf integrated module cooktops from the 2015 series, such as the SM15TF/S, E04 means the steam fill RTD sensor is shorted, above 1000F for 20 seconds. The display shows E04 and the affected function may not run.
1. Power the cooktop down at its breaker for 60 seconds and restore it. 2. Restore power and see whether the display starts normally. 3. On a steamer module, make sure the water tank is seated and free of debris. 4. If E04 comes back, leave the unit off and book us; memory and sensor circuits cannot be fixed at home.
No. On the CI touchscreen models it is a data flash error. On the 2015-series module cooktops it is a steam fill RTD reading that is shorted high.
A power event can disturb a control, which is why a one-minute breaker reset is worth trying. If E04 stays, the stored data or the board itself needs a technician.
The steam fill RTD code is about a sensor reading, not scale. Still, a clean, correctly seated water tank is a sensible first check before we come out.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
