What Flashing hob indicator means

On earlier Wolf CT induction cooktops, including the CT30I/S, CT36I/S, CT30IU and CT36IU, a flashing hob indicator means the burner shut itself off after a boil or simmer. The guidance is to check for a boil-dry condition and then reset the cooktop at the breaker. You see the burner stop heating and its indicator flash, even though you did not turn it off.

Common causes of Flashing hob indicator

  • Pan boiled dry or nearly dry and tripped the shutoff
  • Pan removed or moved off the burner during cooking
  • Control needing a power reset after the shutoff
  • Burner circuit that keeps tripping after a reset
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the burner control to off and remove the pan carefully; it may be very hot. 2. Check the pan for water level and a flat, clean base. 3. Let the glass cool, then switch the cooktop breaker off for a minute and on again. 4. Try a new pan with liquid. If the indicator keeps flashing, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • If a reset does not end the flashing, the cause is no longer the pan and needs a trained look.
  • Boil-dry shutoffs can leave the cookware or glass stressed, and we can check the burner response safely.
  • A price in writing comes first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Flashing hob indicatorFlashing hob indicator questions
Why did my induction burner stop by itself?

The cooktop protects itself when a boil or simmer ends in a boil-dry condition. It switches the burner off and flashes the hob indicator so you notice.

How do I reset the flashing indicator?

Turn the control off, let the pan and glass cool, then switch the cooktop breaker off for about a minute and on again. Then try a pan holding some liquid.

When should I call you?

If the indicator flashes again with a proper pan and liquid right after a reset, call us. We will inspect the burner response and give a written price before work.
