On Wolf L Series legacy wall ovens with the Invensys control, such as the SO30F/S and DO30F/S, RTD OPEN means an open circuit was detected on the RTD oven sensor. The control cannot read the cavity temperature, so it stops heating and shows the message. The prescribed repair is to replace the RTD sensor, once the reading is confirmed. It does not clear until the sensor reading is valid again.
1. Let the oven cool fully. 2. Switch the breaker off for one minute and restore power. 3. Look inside the cavity for the thin sensor rod, without bending it. 4. If RTD OPEN returns, stop and call us; do not tug on the sensor.
It is the resistance temperature sensor that tells the oven how hot the cavity is. RTD OPEN means the circuit to it is broken, so the control has no temperature to work with.
Please do not. The rod is delicate and its position matters. If it looks shifted, still call us, since a reading test is needed. A small shift in position can also affect baking results later.
No. The control stops heating when it cannot read the sensor, which protects the oven. A replacement sensor restores normal operation. Expect a short visit, a written price first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty on the new sensor.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
