On legacy Wolf DF dual fuel ranges that show text messages, the message COOL FAN means the cooling fan apparency switch reports a cooling fan failure. The switch senses airflow from the fan, and it is telling the control the fan is not running as it should. You will see COOL FAN and the oven may limit or stop heating.
1. Power the oven off and let the cavity cool. 2. Check that nothing blocks the vents around the range. 3. Take the range off its breaker for one minute, then re-energize it. 4. If COOL FAN shows again, stop using the oven and call us.
The apparency switch says the cooling fan is not running properly. The range protects itself by limiting heat until the fan is verified. We would rather test than guess, so there is no surprise charge afterward.
Maybe, or the switch that senses it may have failed. We check both before replacing a part. Our technician checks the likely causes in order, and we tell you the result of each check.
We recommend waiting. A weak cooling fan can let heat build up, so book a visit and we will quote in writing. Our technician checks the likely causes in order, so nothing is replaced without your approval.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
