On Wolf earlier-model CT induction cooktops such as the CT30IU and CT36IU, E23 means the generator 2 burner sensor is open, so the control reads no signal from it. On Wolf integrated module cooktops from the 2015 series, such as the TM15TF/S, E23 means the user option data in EEPROM memory is corrupted. The display shows E23 and the affected burners or options may not work.
1. Turn all burners and modules off and let the cooktop cool. 2. Take pans off the glass. 3. Shut the cooktop breaker off for a minute, then close it again. 4. If E23 returns, stop using the cooktop and call; sensor circuits and stored data need technician tools.
An open sensor circuit is like a broken wire: the control sees no signal at all. E23 on the earlier CTI cooktops says that is happening on a generator 2 burner.
It holds the preferences you can set on a module cooktop. E23 says that stored data is corrupted, so the control cannot read your options correctly.
A breaker reset may clear a one-time glitch. If the data really is corrupted, the control keeps showing E23 until a technician corrects it. Nothing is replaced until you approve the written price.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
