On Wolf CI induction cooktops from the 2015-plus series with the EGO control, such as the CI304T/S, CI365T/S, and CI243C/B, E2 means the coil temperature is too high. The control sensed the induction coil running hotter than allowed and shut that zone down. The check starts with the cooling fan, any vent blockage, and the coil thermistor, which should read about 56k ohms at 22C. The display shows E2.
1. Turn off every zone and let the cooktop cool for 30 minutes. 2. Clear the vent area and anything stored close to the cooktop. 3. Use flat pans that fit the zone and avoid heating an empty pan. 4. Leave the breaker off for about a minute before switching it on again. 5. If E2 returns on a cool cooktop, stop and call us.
They share the meaning, coil temperature too high. This page covers the CI induction cooktops from 2015 on; the integrated module cooktops have their own page.
The coil thermistor should read about 56k ohms at 22C. A reading far off that tells us the sensor, not the coil, is the problem.
Poor airflow around the cooktop can. If the vent area is blocked or the fan struggles, the coil cannot shed heat, and we check that first.
