On Wolf CI induction cooktops with the touchscreen control, such as the CI30460T/S and CI36560T/S, E102 means over temperature: the control sensed more heat than it allows and stopped heating to protect the cooktop. You will see E102 on the display and the affected zones go cold. The code usually follows long high-power cooking, an empty or unsuitable pan, or poor airflow around the unit.
1. Turn every zone off and remove the cookware. 2. Let the cooktop cool for at least 30 minutes. 3. Confirm the vent area is not blocked and nothing is stored hard against the cooktop. 4. Restart with a flat pan that fits the zone and some food or liquid in it. 5. If E102 returns on a cool cooktop, call us.
Yes, an empty pan heats very quickly on induction, and that kind of heat can trip the over temperature protection. Cool the cooktop and try again with food or liquid in the pan.
Give the cooktop at least 30 minutes with all zones off. If E102 shows immediately on a cold cooktop, waiting longer will not help and a technician should look.
A one-minute breaker reset is fine to try. If the code keeps returning, the heat is real or a sensor misreads, and either way we diagnose it before quoting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
