Code 31 means invalid configuration on Wolf 2015-series cooktops. On CI induction models like the CI304T/S, it shows when the generator or control board was replaced and not configured, and the LOCK light is not lit. Integrated modules such as the CI152TF/S report it as well. On CE electric models it is not a valid code, so on a CE cooktop we look at the exact model.
1. Turn all zones off. 2. Switch the breaker off for a minute, then restore power. 3. Note whether anyone recently replaced a part. 4. Do not retry heating if the code stays. 5. Call us with the model number and recent work done.
A replaced control board or generator must be configured for your cooktop. If that step was missed, the control reports invalid configuration. The control needs its setup for your exact cooktop, and it complains until that has been entered.
It is not valid on CE models. If a CE cooktop shows it, we check the exact model number. If a CE model shows it, the code is not expected there, so the exact model number helps us decide.
On CI models the code appears with the LOCK light not lit. We use that detail to confirm the diagnosis. We can check that detail quickly and then confirm what setup is missing before we quote the price.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
