Wolf Cooktop Code E08: Keyboard communication, induction setup, or thermistor shorted

What E08 means

E08 has three Wolf meanings. On CT electric cooktops such as the CT36E/S, it reports a keyboard communications error. On CI induction cooktops with the touchscreen, such as the CI36560T/S, it means the induction configuration is invalid. On integrated module cooktops from the 2015 series, such as the SM15TF/S, the ambient thermistor on the power board is shorted. The display shows E08 and some or all burners may not respond.

E08E08 questions

What does an invalid induction configuration mean?

The control has setup data that does not match the cooktop it is installed in. A technician has to correct or replace it; owners cannot change it from the touchscreen.

Is E08 a keypad failure on every model?

No. Only the CT electric cooktops describe it as a keyboard communications error. The other two platforms use E08 for setup data and a board thermistor.

Should I keep trying to turn on burners?

If the controls do not respond, repeated tries will not help. A single breaker reset is reasonable, then we recommend a service visit. If it turns out to be simple, we tell you so.
