On Wolf's early induction cooktops, such as the CT30I/S and CT36I/S, FA is a time-out in communication, and the published direction is to replace the generator assembly. The display control and the generator stopped talking to each other. You will see FA, and the cooktop may not heat at all. Nothing may heat at all, and the display may stay on FA.
1. Turn off all zones and allow the cooktop to cool. 2. Turn the wall breaker off for a full minute, then turn it on again. 3. If the controls respond normally, use the cooktop lightly and watch for FA. 4. If FA returns, stop and call us. Do not open the cooktop.
The display waits for an answer from the generator and does not get one in time. FA reports that missing reply, which is why the cooktop stops.
The published direction is to replace it. We still verify the connections and supply first, because a loose link is cheaper to fix than a new assembly.
It depends on the repair cost and how long you plan to keep the cooktop. We put the price in writing first, so the decision is yours to make.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
